Florence is undoubtedly one of the most romantic cities not only in Italy but in the world. The elegant palaces and churches, designed by the greatest artists of the Renaissance era, give this city a timeless charm and sophistication, making it one of the favorite locations for destination weddings in Italy, chosen by couples from all over the world.
Benjamin and Anastasia are a young couple whose origin is a mix of Norway, Russia, and Hungary. Last summer we coordinated their wonderful destination wedding in Florence, and I am particularly glad to share these photos with you because it was one of the most memorable events of the season, beautifully captured by multi-award-winning wedding photographer Carlo Carletti.
Just imagine a romantic church in gothic revival style, with its pointed arches and delicate stained glass windows, a luminous and elegant aisle crowned by a large rose window above the main door, with the bride descending from a vintage Rolls Royce and making her magnificent entrance into the church. The aisle and altar of St. James’ Episcopal Church were decorated with romantic and delicate flowers in pale pink and white with touches of green.
After the protestant ceremony in Florence the couple, together with the bridesmaids and best men, had a pleasant photo session in the very heart of Florence, surrounded by its most iconic landmarks: the wonderful Piazza della Signoria, the main square in the oldest part of Florence, Palazzo dei Priori, the 13th century Town Hall, the shores of the Arno river near Ponte Vecchio, the 14th-century bridge that is one of the symbols of Florence.
If you are thinking of a destination wedding in Florence there is no need to be scared by the tourists that flock to Florence in every time of the year: the beautiful hills encircling Florence are full of hidden gems: elegant Villas and sumptuous Castles where you can celebrate in an intimate and relaxed way with your family and friends.
Benjamin and Anastasia chose a secluded Renaissance Villa on the hills near Fiesole, immersed in the most romantic countryside. After the Protestant ceremony in Florence, a transfer was organized for the bridal couple and their guests to the enchanting Villa di Maiano.
A fake baroque frame was used by the guests to transform their photos into funny old-style portraits.
The cocktail was served on the panoramic terrace with a stunning view of the city of Florence. Among the guests were various celebrities from the USA.
The reception, in particular, was intensely romantic, especially after sunset, when the trees were enlightened by tiny lights and candles were lit on the reception tables decorated with white and pink flowers.
Here are more details of the floral decorations in garden-chic style.
The same pastel flowers were used also to decorate the wedding cake, surrounded by candles and delicate white rose petals.
This was one of the most enchanting moments of the reception: when the bride and her father entered the dance floor, illuminated with fairy lights. They danced so intensely and never seemed to be tired. The other guests joined them soon after and the wedding party continued until 1.30 am!
I hope you enjoy this wonderful photo gallery with all the details of the ceremony and reception!
