Civil weddings in Venice

Every year couples from all over the world contact my agency to plan a romantic wedding in Venice. Venice has always been one of my favorite locations since it has everything a couple could desire for their wedding:  a unique romantic atmosphere, incredible Palazzos and churches for wedding ceremonies, charming restaurants and unique reception venues, hotels of all budget ranges where to stay, so many things to do… The atmosphere of Venice is magical, what a perfect place where to marry in Italy!

Wedding in Venice, Palazzo Cavalli

Civil weddings take place in the lovely Palazzo Cavalli, a typical XVII century Venetian Palace facing the Grand Canal, located only few minutes walk from Rialto’s bridge and St. Marks Square. Bride and groom have the chance to arrive to their marriage venue in wonderful Riva boat… Or even get to Palazzo Cavalli in a classical gondola or a special wedding gondola conducted by two gondoliers in the typical uniform used only for special events.

The entrance door is located on the right side of the Palazzo. The marriage hall is located on the second floor. If there are guests with walking difficulties a lift can be used. As the couple enters the marriage hall they are asked to join the registrar in a smaller room facing Rialto Bridge… This is where the couple is asked to sign a small sworn declaration before the wedding.

Then the couple can return in the main hall and the ceremony can start. The hall is in Venetian style with historical paintings on the walls and an impressive Murano’s chandelier. The wedding hall of Venice has a capacity of 60/70 people, and approximately 25 seats. The ceremony starts with the readings of the articles of the Italian civil code, to be followed by the wedding promises and marriage act reading.

The couple can personalize the ceremony with some personal vows while exchanging the rings, some poems can be read by family members of guests and you may also organize some music entertainment during the ceremony such as Violin, guitar or Harp. A CD player is also available.
A small present from the Municipality of Venice will be given to the couple, to thank them for choosing to get married in Venice!

After ceremony you cannot miss a spectacular picture in the panoramic balcony facing Rialto Bridge. As ceremony ends all guests make their way out of the Palace, waiting for Bride & Groom to come out and throw them some rice or confetti!

While a gondola is waiting to take them for a romantic ride among the most beautiful and intimates canals of the lagoon! While having your gondola ride do not miss a glass of champagne to celebrate the beginning of your future together!

Weddings in Venice are incredibly romantic… can you imagine a more special setting for a romantic wedding picture? After the gondola ride you can continue your photo session in St. Mark’s Square…

After a champagne toast in St. Mark’s square… I recommend a romantic dinner or reception facing the lagoon… All good reasons to get married in Venice, the most romantic city of the world!
