Venue Description
Villa Astor is a splendour rarely seen both inside and outside. This property was bought by William Waldorf Astor in 1905 who fell in love with this place and filled it with one of the greatest 20th-century collections of classical and Renaissance antiques. In the 1970s the Villa was acquired by a wealthy family who welcomed many illustrious visitors including Gregory Peck, Princess Margaret, Sofia Loren, Franco Zeffirelli and Rudolf Nureyev, making it one of the most desirable destinations in the South of Italy.
Behind the elegant soft-apricot façade that glows in the light, lie the most refined interiors with high ceilings, marble floors and antiques where guests can breathe classicism and elegance. The opulent Suites are designed individually by the interior decorator Jacques Garcia and furnished with the finest period furniture and objects d’art.
Named one of the trendiest Wedding venues in Italy by Bride’s Magazine, this place is real heaven full of romantic spots in the 2 hectares of its idyllic garden: ornamental ponds, fountains, an internal pool in a natural grotto, citrus and olive groves, palms and ferns and secret paths and alleys run through more than 1,000 plant species including medicinal plans. Wedding Ceremonies
The exotic garden and spectacular terraces of Villa Astor are a magical scene for a symbolic wedding ceremony and reception for groups of 100/200 guests. Symbolic ceremonies can be organized on a wide panoramic terrace with a view of the sea and Vesuvius for max 120 guests. Another option is a garden area next to the pool with no views of the sea but surrounded by palms and exotic plants. Civil ceremonies are performed in the Cloister of San Francesco in Sorrento, while the closer Church where Catholic ceremonies are celebrated for non-residents is in Positano.
Wedding Receptions
Cocktail hour can be organized on different terraces with are located as a cascade, for smaller groups of up to 30 guests, it is possible to use the amazing rooftop.
Potentially there are two areas for the set up of a Marquee, one is a lawn in the centre of the park which is wide enough for a group of max 200 guests seated for dinner, the other is the area in front of the Villa that can be transformed into a covered lounge zone of a similar size. Inside, in the Farfalle salon, there is room for 60 guests seated. The famous frontal terrace of the Villa adjacent to the Farfalle salon can hold 60 guests.
To summarize: the maximum capacity for events outdoors is 200 guests with Marquee recommended. Maximum capacity for a seated dinner inside the Villa: 60 guests. The ideal number for an event at Villa Astor is between 100 to 120 guests.
Music Entertainment
Musical entertainment is allowed outside till 11:30 pm, then the party moves inside in the Farfalle salon, ending time is normally at 2:00 am.
Accommodation
Accommodations for 12 guests in 4 suites and 2 bedrooms are available in Villa Astor. Extra accommodations for 8 guests are in the Torre. Max capacity: 20 guests. Minimum stay: 3 to 7 nights, depending on the period of the year.
It is possible to rent the villa for an event without booking the accommodations.
