Portovenere is a charming fisherman village located on the eastern coast of the Italian Riviera. This destination has become in these latest years very popular as it offers very spectacular settings where your civil wedding ceremony can be celebrated.
Civil wedding ceremonies in Portovenere can take place in many different and equally beautiful settings at the local municipality, outdoors at the impressive Medieval Castle Doria, located on the highest peak of town, at the Fortress Umberto I situated on the Island Palmaria or at the Convent of the Olivetani.
Perched on top of the town of Portovenere, the Castello Doria is one of the most majestic military architectures of the marine republic of Genoa. Initially built within the 12th Century has been destroyed and rebuilt in the 15th century and used once again for defensive military measures. Today the property of the Castle is of the Municipality of Portovenere and civil or symbolic wedding ceremonies as well as wedding receptions can be held at the Castle.
The Fortress Umberto I would be the ideal solution for a large Wedding celebration – civil ceremony and Wedding reception can be at the same venue. The Fortress of the sea, a former prison is situated on the Island Palmaria in the gulf just in front of Portovenere – an incredible paradise immersed in the Mediterranean nature and UNESCO patrimony – the structure is imposing and of Medieval style.
The last presented but not certainly the least, is the Convent of the Olivetani where your Civil Wedding celebration can be performed in the beautiful hall at Le Grazie – the entrance to the Wedding hall is the same as for the Grazie Church with the impressive staircase leading to the door and the beautiful background of the Church.
It will be difficult to choose among all these venues for your Civil Wedding celebration in Portovenere!
Weddings are performed from Monday to Saturday in the morning and afternoon. Sunday weddings only in the morning. The ceremony in the castle is celebrated open air, music is allowed. You can enhance your Civil Wedding ceremony with your personal vows and readings if you wish.
