Weddings on Lake Como at Villa Erba

Venue description

Elegance and majesty are typical of Lake Como and well represented by the beautiful Villa Erba. Villa Erba is located in Cernobbio, next to Como city. It was originally a monastery in the XV Century, later it was rebuilt and enriched with a grand entrance hall, a panoramic tower and magnificent decorations, and used as a holiday house for the summer.

Villa Erba was the summer residence of the acclaimed film director Luchino Visconti, one of the founders of Italian neorealism with the films Obsession and Rocco and His Brothers, who later moved to a more opulent style for his masterpieces about the decay of aristocracy: Senso, Il Gattopardo, and Death in Venice.

At the end of 1900, the property was sold to a company specialized in organizing exhibitions and conventions. Today Villa Erba is made by the main historical building and huge greenhouses, and the immense botanical park protected by high walls.

Villa Erba has its own private pier to transport guests and a dedicated area for helicopters. Big perimetral walls and guarded gates guarantee security and exclusivity.

Villa Erba Wedding: ceremony and reception

Thanks to its position directly on the waterfront, Villa Erba is a truly magical setting for an exclusive wedding day. Symbolic ceremonies can be organized outdoors on the lawn by the lakeside or right in front of the façade of the Villa. In the case of large groups, it is possible to put a platform over the peer to create a large area for the ceremony right above the water.

Cocktail hour and dinner reception can take place outdoors, under a Marquee, or in one of the inside halls depending on the size of the group.

Dancing is allowed inside till 4:00 am.

Accommodation

Villa Erba doesn’t offer accommodation on site but there are plenty of hotels in Cernobbio or Como, both at a few minutes' distance.
