Civil Wedding at the Palazzo dei Priori in Volterra

Frescoed ceiling of Palazzo dei Priori

The atmosphere of Volterra is extremely attractive and romantic and being just approx 60 km south of Pisa it is often chosen also for its proximity to the airport. The well known Piazza dei Priori, one of the most perfect medieval town squares in Italy, is dominated by the historical Palazzo dei Priori where civil wedding ceremonies are celebrated.

This Palazzo, designed by Maestro Riccardo in 1239, has a three-storey façade adorned with trilobed, double arched windows and glazed terracotta coat of arms of the Florentine Magistrates. In 1472 the Palace became the centre of the Captain of Justice and the 2 Lions were added.

About civil weddings in Volterra

Civil weddings are performed in an enchanting frescoed hall of Palazzo dei Priori every day of the week in the morning and afternoon. Sworn declaration to be done at least 2 days before the wedding. The wedding hall hold up to 50 guests. We recommend a wedding in Volterra all year round.
