San Gimignano Weddings

Destination wedding in San Gimignano

Visitors walking through the gateway of San Gimignano find themselves into a new magical dimension. San Gimignano is also known as the City of the Beautiful Towers rich in history, art and culture. Like Certaldo, San Gimignano rises on top of a hill dominating the Elsa Valley and, apart from museums and galleries, its main attractions are its architecture and atmosphere today part of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The 14 towers of San Gimignano reign over the village and the surrounding countryside. On a clear day you can certainly recognize this small village from far away. Once this walled town was surrounded by 72 towers. During the middle ages it was the status symbol for noble families to build personal towers for protection and as a proof of their wealth and power.

The central piazza is simply a jewel: incredible towers, old buildings and a lovely 13th century well. Rich in art and history San Gimignano is a pleasure to wander… do not miss to visit the romanesque church Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta which is a treasure trove of fine frescoes. The views from the Torre Grossa, the biggest tower in town, are absolutely breathtaking.

On top of the hill there is a ruined fortress called Rocca where visitors can sit for a while to enjoy of the surrounding green parks and olive groves, a really amazing Tuscan panorama.

San Gimignano is the perfect choice for those couples who want to enjoy the wonders of the most enchanting Tuscan countryside and get married in the most picturesque and famous village of Tuscany.
