Wedding at San Galgano, where the sky is the ceiling

The Tuscany wedding of Mimi and Decker at San Galgano Abbey is an event that we won’t forget for years to come. There is no place like Tuscany to step back into the past, and San Galgano is one of its most special places.

This fantastic abbey was built in the 13th century in Gothic style by the then powerful Cistercian monks, who were allied with the Republic of Siena. During the wars among the various factions of Tuscany, the abbey started to lose its prestige and a slow decline began. In the 18th century the bell tower was struck by a lightning and crumbled to the ground, destroying also the roof of the church. Finally the local authorities understood the artistic value of this cultural heritage and in the 20th century the ancient building underwent major restoration works, allowing many visitors to discover its timeless enchantment.

In this magical place we organized the civil ceremony for Mimi and Decker, in fact the local municipality allows weddings with legal validity to take place here. The bride, her father and mother arrived at the church on a vintage Rolls Royce. The groom was waiting for Mimi at the end of the roofless nave, under the bluest sky, the string trio was playing classical melodies that filled the air with music… unforgettable moments that will be remembered for a lifetime!

After the wedding ceremony the couple had their first moments as husband and wife captured during a romantic photo session in the Tuscan countryside.

In the meantime the guests moved to Borgo Santo Pietro, a five-star boutique hotel located nearby, where the couple reached them soon after. The cocktail was served in the Rose Garden, followed by the sit down dinner on the Terrazza Toscana.

The floral decorations by the talented florists of La Rosa Canina, in a refined palette of cream white, pale pink, deep green and purple, combined with the soft light of candles and created a refined, yet relaxed atmosphere.

Sunday was the wedding day, ending with the cutting of the cake under a sky full of stars!
