Fantastic Wedding Weekend in Ravello

Fantastic Wedding Weekend in Ravello

An incredible wedding weekend in Ravello, the pearl of the Amalfi Coast of Italy, an Italian fairy tale come true during three days of event organized at the exclusive Villa Cimbrone. For privacy reasons we can publish only the decorations, but these are so special that I couldn’t wait to share them with you!

The weekend started with a welcome dinner with the bright and vibrant colors of the Mediterranean: yellow, blue, green and white. The main inspiration for this design were the colors and traditions of Southern Italy: three long tables forming a U shape were organized outdoors on a terrace with incredible seaviews. Over the three tables the florists set up a wonderful pergola decorated with greenery, lemons, flowers, lanterns and fairy lights. A custom made runner of tiny majolica tiles decorated the entire length of the banquet table, while the menus were written on  small tambourines, inviting everybody to enjoy the beautiful summer evening!

We took care of every little detail: the escort cards hanging from the branches of a tree, tied to colorful ribbons, the photo booth with an incredible ceramic background, the signature drinks for bride and groom,

The most unique decoration for these tables were the two “teste di moro” (Moorish heads), elaborated ceramic pieces artistically hand-crafted in Caltagirone near Catania. These are inspired by an old Sicilian legend about two ill-fated lovers: a noble Sicilian girl who fell in love with an Arabic man, unfortunately her family opposed their relationship so strongly that the two lovers were beheaded by the girl’s brothers… definitely not a story with a happy ending, but this legend inspired many Sicilian artisans to create these pieces of art.

The second day started with a pool party and buffet lunch around noon. The pool area was decorated with statues and large stone vases filled with blue and red flowers. Nearby we created relaxing areas with carpets, cushions, sofas and umbrellas, where the guests could enjoy the fantastic summer day. You can notice the welcome bags made of straw and decorated with colorful pom poms. They were filled with Italian products and given as a welcome gift to the guests upon their arrival in Ravello, together with a special Ravello map and the wedding itinerary, a custom design of our stationers.

We called the rehearsal dinner “the Italian feast”, where the main inspiration were the colors of the Italian flag, the “tricolore”: green, white and red, symbolized by the typical Italian produce: basil, tomatoes and red peppers. These were not only the main ingredients of the menu but they were also used for the decorations, together with white chamomile flowers. The red and white checkered table cloths, the fairy lights hanging over the long tables, the place cards shaped like basil leaves… every detail formed a rustic and festive setting, ideal to celebrate summer with family and friends!

The next day was the big day! The ceremony took place outdoors in the gardens of Villa Cimbrone, where the Tearoom was filled with white and peach roses.

The wedding banquet was served in the crypt, with an incredible decoration of tall glass candleholders and white flowers. The special arrangement with mirrored table tops doubled the effect of the stunning decorations. A big crystal chandelier hung over the top table. The pictures really speak for themselves.

Renowned Italian cake designer Renato Ardovino prepared a fantastic five tier wedding cake with majolica style decorations, alternating chocolate and wild strawberry layers. This was truly a piece of art!

After the cutting of the cake the party continued in the gardens of Villa Cimbrone until 1 am. This wedding on the Amalfi Coast has been an extraordinary event for me and all the staff here at Exclusive Italy: for the number and quality of vendors involved, the special ideas we incorporated in the design and the extra care we took to focus on every tiny detail, creating an outstanding event for each of the three days of the wedding weekend.
