Venue description

Muggiasca family built this enchanting villa on the shores of Lake Como in the XV century and settled down here to escape the plague, offering hospitality to friends in exchange for manual work to dig and level the gardens. They created the present garden structure made of a long series of terraces with some intersected paths and shaded alleys where exotic plants, aloe, lemon and tangerine trees, and other rare plants are grown. A walk along these paths offers moments of pure pleasure and takes to the famous dock called Darsena, an evocative stone terrace among a thick forest of tall trees that opens to the lake where symbolic ceremonies are celebrated.

The gardens of Villa Pizzo are located on several terracings degrading to the lakeshore and are divided into different areas, among them are the so-called zona Genova with its milder climate that hosts Mediterranean plants like agave, bergamot, olive trees, and prickly pears, which normally grow much further south, the Italian Garden with the majestic camphor tree, also called the tree of life and considered sacred in Japan, the Darsena with the imposing alley surrounded by box hedges that leads to the dock on the lake, the romantic English Garden, ideal for a walk among evergreen plants and stone galleries up to a panoramic terrace overlooking Lake Como. A rose collection with hundreds of different rose varieties spreads over the lakeside, some of them created in the 19th and 18th centuries and have been preserved until today. Villa Pizzo gardens offer a variety of spots for symbolic ceremonies outdoors, the private Orangerie Garden, the romantic Garden of the Eye and the spectacular Darsena.  It is so easy to fall in love with the Darsena, first because it is a truly unexpected space couples find after walking a few minutes along the lakeshore, and then because it is a stunning large stone terrace on two levels right on the waters, suitable for small and large groups, for simple and elegant decors and for opulent or extravagant designs, a white canvas that permits any kind of design. A grand entrance is guaranteed: the Bride comes from the garden path, walks down the short stairs, then down the aisle and a suggestive ceremony accompanied by classical music can start.

What makes Villa Pizzo one of the most appreciated Lake Como wedding venues are its well-maintained interiors filled with paintings and architectural details that represent a real Italian elegance. A beautiful stone staircase accompanies guests to the lake level where four refined halls amaze guests with portraits of ancient nobles, precious painted ceilings, stucco works, and luxury furniture. All four halls face the lake. The Muggiasca is the most famous and largest hall where dinners with a maximum of 60 guests or dancing parties for larger groups are organized. Then there is a smaller hall where a group of 10 guests can dine or it can be set up with an Open Bar, tall chairs and tables, and other two medium halls that can hold approximately 30 guests and 20 guests for a sit-down dinner.

On the second floor of the villa, there is a Bridal Suite for a change of dress or touch-up.

This villa can be exclusively rented for a wedding banquet with a maximum of 150 guests. Weddings can be planned outdoors keeping in mind the indoor capacity of a maximum of 120 guests split into 4 connected halls. Cocktail hour following the ceremony is organized in the Italian Garden and sit-down dinner in the Court of the villa where a double stone staircase allows a dramatic entrance for the newlyweds. With a group of 120 guests, there is enough room for a band stage and a dance floor if dancing is requested throughout the evening.

A Marquee can be set up outdoors for 150 guests in the court.

Music entertainment

Music is allowed outdoors until 11:00 pm, the party can continue indoors until the early hours upon agreement.
