Medieval town of Cortona in Tuscany

Enjoy the atmosphere of this medieval town situated on top of a hill with views of the surrounding hills covered with olive groves and that can stretch all the way to Lake Trasimeno: its narrow twisting streets are a pleasure to wander. Its small squares and colorful buildings as simply delightful. Cortona might be one of Italy’s oldest towns – “Mother of Troy and Grandmother of Rome”, in popular speech. Tradition claims that it was established by Dardanus, the founder of Troy. Etruscan remains of the 4th century BC show that a first set of town walls were already in place around the town.
