Rome weddings, a romantic destination wedding in the Eternal capital...

Civil weddings in Rome

Rome it is certainly the most popular and famous destination for a civil wedding ceremony, as couples can choose among very ancient venues located in the historical heart of the city.

The Campidoglio
This elegant marriage hall is located on the Capitoline Hill, close to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The Palace of Campidoglio is located in a splendid square conceived by Michelangelo, who also designed the two palaces on the opposite sides of the square, whose divergence creates a widening perspective which is most effective. It is reached by the grand flight of steps known as the "Cordonata", built to a design by Michelangelo especially for the triumphal entry of the Emperor Charles V in 1536.
The interior is very formal, with rich red damask tapestry and gilded decors. Very special venue that can hold large groups. Weddings are celebrated only Saturday and Sunday and ceremonies are quite brief.

Caracalla
Civil wedding in Rome can take place also in the complex Vignola Mattei, located close to the ruins of the Bath of Caracalla. The ceremony is celebrated in an ex-convent surrounded by a beautiful park. The interior is rustic feel, but charming and intimate. This venue is certainly less formal than the Campidoglio marriage hall and ideal for couples desiring a relaxed and private ceremony. Weddings celebrated all days except Tuesday.

Villa Lais
The third venue where Rome civil weddings are celebrated is a charming Villa situated in the surroundings of Rome. The ceremony is hold in an antique and frescoed chapel. The tiny chapel of 19th century is the ideal place if you are looking for an intimate and romantic wedding, relaxing walks and take memorable pictures. The chapel can hold a maximum of 25 people. Villa Lais is located about 20 minutes drive from the historical centre. No Tuesday and Sunday weddings.

About civil weddings in Rome
Rome municipality allows civil ceremonies in three different venues above listed. No weddings are celebrated on Tuesday. In order to book the wedding day at Caracalla and Campidoglio the municipality needs to have the entire documentation in advance and the pre-payment of marriage hall fee, and this may cause some difficulties to those couples where their permission to marry in Italy is issued about three months or less before the wedding. To avoid this problem we recommend couples to book their wedding in Rome through the registry office of Villa Lais.
Rome is a very popular destination, each year many couples from all over the world get married in our capital, so you may expect that civil ceremonies are celebrated one after the other and the rite itself is kept quite brief.

Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction
