Cividale del Friuli dates back to the time of Julius Caesar. Cividale is a little-known gem in the eastern foothills of Friuli. An absolutely delightful place to stroll around in, it is one of the best places in all Italy to see evidence of the Lombards, who ruled here from 568 to 737 AD. In the center of town, near the 14th-century "Devils' Bridge," is the cathedral, a 15th-century Venetian Gothic building that harbours a remarkable silver altarpiece.
The town hall of Cividale del Friuli is a beautiful medieval palace located in the very heart of Cividale, right in front the impressive Duomo and walking distance from the panoramic Devil's bridge. Wedding ceremonies are performed in the elegant "Sala del Consiglio" decorated with enchanting paintings and antique furniture.
