Antique Roman church in the beautiful Tuscan Countryside

Catholic wedding in Tuscany - Where?
In the Chianti region, in the most beautiful and enchanting Tuscan countryside.

Church description
This attractive ancient church is surrounded by a fascinating mystic aura. An incredible and picturesque staircase leads you to the entrance of the church where really remarkable archeological remains can be found. Four columns rise powerfully from the lawn in front the ancient façade, relicts of a glorious past that tower majestically towards the sky like an attempt to reach the eternity. There is a dreamy part-religious and part-mystic atmosphere outside on the lawn. Apparently a pagan temple stood on the hill in pre-Christian times and contain an idol, perhaps that of Eros, the god of love and passion, who was greatly worshipped locally. Mystery and legends make the origin of this church quite uncertain.
The interior has two different versions of the Romanesque: an early Romanesque version dating to the founding of the building and a later version in the same style; this can be admired in the right aisle. On the walls there are a series of frescoes by the Florentine school from the end of the 15th century.
